orchid flower painted in oils

This flower painting of a Dimerandra Orchid is painted using Oil paint. Painted using mainly flat one-stroke brushes, the petal colour was loaded into the brush, then the chisel end was 'tipped' with the darker petal colour. The larger petals were accomplished with two strokes of the brush, It was painted wet-in-wet, on canvas board and the background is black acrylic, which was allowed to dry before the painting was started. Oil colours used were Titanium White, Naples Yellow, Permanent Rose, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green and Paynes Gray and Zest-it Clear Painting Medium.
