Hibiscus

The canvas of this picture was first given a coat of Black Gesso which was allowed to dry. A very thin coat of Zest-it Clear Painting Medium was then applied and into the background area were brushes some dark greens and reds.

The leaves were painted first wet on wet using mixtures of Cad. Yellow + Ultramarine Blue + Ivory Black.

The centre of the flowers is Cad. Yellow with a touch of red added, this was painted in quite dry. The red was thinned with the painting medium to cover each flower and then highlighted. All large floral paintings can be painted using these techniques.
