pansy flowers painted in oils wet-on-wet

These Blue Pansies are painted using Oil paint, wet on wet and on canvas.

The background is a dark navy blue gesso which was allowed to dry before starting the painting.

Zest-it Clear Painting Medium was used to 'wet' the canvas, only a thin layer is needed. The leaves were painted first followed by the flowers 'stacked' on top of each other. Various shades of blue were used, each Pansy flower having a different coloured centre.

This is good exercise in painting the many ruffled petals that give Pansies their shape and form.
