spring

Spring Flowers painted with Oils.

This painting of spring flowers is on a 20" x 16" canvas and painted wet-on-wet using oil paint, with a limited palette of high key colours.

The white canvas was first 'wetted' with Zest-it Clear Painting medium, whilst still wet the muted background colours were applied and blending in.

The position of the flowers was sketched in with thin oil paint, before the background was wetted and blended.

The leaves were painted in tones of green and yellow next and the flowers last. The twiggy bits were added as final touch.
It was painted from life within a day.
